GEORDIE WOOD
Catch it while it fades
30 May 2017
Brooklyn-based photographer Geordie Wood’s work is infused with a sense of the slow. Set against the bustling background of urban reality, it’s almost as if life has been wound down to such a pace that otherwise fleeting circumstances can be snapped up and captured in a single shot. That in-between moment has been paused at exactly the point where instances, people and stories meet, merge and continue.
Caught in the middle in statuesque poses are the confident main characters, the central inhabitants of Wood’s frames. Turning a gleefully blind eye to the ever-turgid present, these images and the figures within are forever transitory and in constant motion, pulling back and forth in an endless tug-o-war between past and future.
