FIONA TORRE
The hazy world of the collector
15 March 2017
A smooth and silken glaze seems to coat the surface of French photographer Fiona Torre’s images, giving the content both a fragile innocence and deeply embedded sense of antiquity. She invites the viewer to enter the somewhat hazy world of the collector, presenting recognisable motifs and objects that pertain to a collection which is very much under construction, yet certainly not unfinished.
Add to this, the distant gazes of the models in Torre’s intimate images nonetheless featuring a deliberate intensity and focused aim. With their range of subdued palettes and unusual perspectives, Torre’s subjects allure the viewer with their ethereal charm. They depict an otherworldly existence full of yesteryear’s teenage dreams, free from digital distractions and current affairs. Born in Toulouse, Torre is currently based in Paris.
